  • Week 2: The Terrible Crime!

What an awesome week we've had!

What's did I miss this week?

We read "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift in class, then filled in a "SOAPtone" paper about it.  We then learned about Satire:  What Satire is and how to identify it in writing.  We also practiced writing Satire ourselves so we could use it later in our own writings.

Afterwards, we watched a few examples of satire.  For an explanation of what Satire is, watch this:

Were you gone that day?  Here's the handout!

What are we doing next week?

NEXT WEEK, WE'LL BE READING ABOUT SOMEONE WHO IS 17 and the youngest person to ever receive the Nobel Peace Prize and we'll be studying her speech to the U.N.

Malala's story is illustrated beautifully by artist Gavin Aung Than on his website zenpencils.com

If you have more time, you should definitely check out his website and look at all of the amazing art and quotes he's created.  It's very cool!

Remember our extra credit was filling out the questionaire during career day on Friday!  Enjoy your weekend!
